Taste of Kerala

Day 1: Arrival at Kochi
On arrival at Kochi Airport, our representative will greet and transfer you to the Hotel in Fort Kochi for two nights stay. In the evening, you can enjoy a sunset cruise and the Chinese fishing nets. The fish market near the fishing nets is famous for the fishes caught with Chinese nets and sea fishes. If you wish you can select from the fresh catch and will be prepared for you in different styles to tantalize your taste buds.

Day 2: Sightseeing of Kochi
After breakfast you will be taken for a guided sightseeing tour. The older parts of Fort kochi and Mattancherry have an unlikely blend of medieval Portugal, Holland and also of an English country village grafted on the Tropical Malabar Coast – a radical contrast to the bright lights of mainland Ernakulam. You will be taken to the St. Francis Church constructed by Portuguese – said to be India’s oldest European built church, Mattancherry Palace where the astonishing murals depicting stories from Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Puranic legends are seen. Next stop is at Paradesi Jewish Synagogue, originally constructed in 1568. In the evening, you can watch a Kathakali performance, which is the renowned stage drama of Kerala. Overnight stay in the same hotel.

Day 3 : Kochi - Alappuzha – Ourland
After breakfast, drive to Alappuzha – ‘the Venice of the East’ – check in at “Ourland Resort”, which is a beautiful Kerala style Resort situated in a very small island surrounded by backwaters. A singular characteristic of ‘Ourland’ is that it is located in a region called ‘Kuttanad’ known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Kerala’. This is also one of the few places in the world where farming is done below sea level.

Day 4 : Our Land – Houseboat

After the breakfast, you can board a houseboat from the steps of the resort. Rest of the day is spent cruising through the canals of Alappuzha, where you get a chance to observe the lives of people living along the banks of the backwaters. Overnight stay is in the houseboat. Accommodation is simple but equipped with modern en-suite facilities.

Day 5 : Houseboat – Vagamon - Vanilla County
After breakfast on board, disembark houseboat at Alappuzha and drive to Vagamon. Vagamon is a tourist spot surrounded by the deep puzzling valleys situated at an elevation of 1100m above sea level. It is a ‘trekker’s paradise’. Check in for a “Home stay” accommodation in an enchanting plantation villa, set amidst plantations of Vanilla, Pepper, Coffee and Rubber.

Day 6 : Vagamon
The entire day you can get engaged in different activities like spice plantation visit, visiting nearby ‘Ashram’ or ‘Meditation Centre’, bird and butterfly watching etc. If you wish, you will be taken for elephant watching (seasonal / optional). Overnight at Home stay.

Day 7: Departure Transfer to Kochi Airport
After breakfast check out from Vanilla County and drive to Kochi International Airport for your onward journey or continue to Kovalam for a week’s beach holiday.
